We stayed with Julie at Higherlands for a night after Sunday lunch on the Churnet Valley Steam Railway. It's just a couple of minutes drive from the station. We had a lovely welcome, nothing is too much trouble. We watched England v Slovakia in the lounge, then went on a great walk in the local countryside, that Julie recommended, and then retired to our room. Plenty of space, very comfy bed, great shower, all good. Breakfast the next morning was the perfect start to the day. Thanks Julie

Just had a weekend at Higherlands we cannot fault a single thing. Julie is very welcoming and helpful nothing is too much trouble for this Lady. Hotel pristine and perfect. We will be staying again.

What an amazing stay, Julie's hospitality from when we arrived until our departure. The room was spotless, the bed super comfortable even the sheets had a fantastic fresh smell. The breakfast is fit for a king, I couldn't finish it all but was really tasty. The shower was powerful with plenty hot water. If your in the area its the place to stay.

What an amazing place. Julie our hostess was friendly, helpful and played taxi to our wedding venue. Our room was spotlessly clean and the bed really comfy. The breakfast was huge and extremely tasty. Highly recommend the hospitality and warmth that was offered to us, from the first moment we made contact with Julie. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

What a lovely B&B. We recently stayed for 2 nights, enjoyed excellent breakfasts, comfort, cleanliness, quiet, (apart from the early morning rooster!), and a most accommodating host, Julie. We had a pool table in our room! (ask Julie, she'll explain). There's very little that Julie doesn't know about the surrounding area, so ask her!

Recently had a two night stay to attend a wedding in the local area. What a wonderful stay! A stunning location. The room and bathroom was immaculate. The bed that comfy I struggled to get out of it! Julie was such a lovely friendly host, she even offered to drive us to the wedding and pick up. The breakfast was yummy! Would definitely recommend.

Only stayed overnight has I was attending a wedding nearby, the room was amazing with beautiful bedding that smelt heavenly, Julie was so lovely made me a cuppa as soon as I got there she was so welcoming, would definitely recommend

Me and my girlfriend stayed here and it was our first ever experience within in a hotel together the owner made us feel very welcoming and the next day she happily gave us a lift to alton towers I advise staying here such a great place

Booked quite short notice just a week before a trip to Alton, arrived very late as we drove from London. Price very reasonable, Julie was so helpful and a delight, recommended us where to eat late, helped us with directions and parking - and although we didn't need breakfast and left early she was still up and available to see us off and give water and snacks. The room and bathroom was large and spotless, bed very comfortable and the area was peaceful. Would definitely stay again if doing another similar trip to avoid extortionate costs of chain hotels with less personable service. Thanks Julie!

With help from the lovely host Julie - I planned a surprise stay for my (now) fiancée and her friends + family. As well as the fantastic and large rooms (the pool table was a lot of fun !!) we also rented the well equipped and decent sized kitchen for the afternoon/eve and additional parking. We had an awesome time here celebrating our engagement. The host Julie is incredibly kind and helpful, we asked how to use the cooker and Julie went out of her way to cook and cut up the many foods we brought along (thank you!). Breakfast was yum and the water bottles and brunch bars were a treat too! Better service than any hotel I've ever stopped at. I couldn't recommend the Higherlands Hotel + Julie enough. Many thanks to Julie! 🤗😁

We stayed for one night whilst attending a wedding at a nearby venue and the propierter Julie was the nicest and most helpful person you could wish to meet, she kindly offered to take us to our venue and also to pick us up, of which she did even accommodating the fact we asked her to change our pick up time. The room and bathroom were excellent bedding immaculate I would definitely stay again should I be in that area .

Lovely place, great place to stay after being to alton towers. The bed was so comfortable, the hosts were very friendly people that offered breakfast in the morning. ☕ I had a tyre puncture that they helped me with and offered to drive me to a garage, we got it sorted for our long trip home to Blackpool. They honestly couldn't do anything more for us, perfect place to stay 💞 thank you again!

Do not bother booking if you actually intend on staying especially if your booking for an up coming weekend getaway I booked them booked all my tickets to Alton towers which btw is 3 hours away and just 3 days before we travel the owner decides oh no someone who lives can’t have guests and cancelled my booking leaving me stressed and trying to urgently get a refund to book another hotel in such short notice she then proceeds to not understand why I’m so angry over the whole refund part too ….. was not offered anything for the trouble just my money back instantly after I had to argue for it as hotel.com WOULDNT offer a refund as they have put a no refund policy on it so no such request would have been sent for her to “accept “ and refund she had to as I wouldn’t let it go refund me through my bank and hers I REPEAT DO NOT BOTHER BOOKING IF YOU INTEND ON STAYING THAT SAME WEEK AS THEY ARE NOT PROFESSIONAL ENOUGH TO KNOW WHEN AND WHEN NOT PEOPLE CAN BE BOOKED IN AWFUL SERVICE

An absolutely lovely experience! Even though the weather on that weekend was wet 'n' cold Brian and Julie where very welcoming and Humble people. They made us very comfortable and we felt like a family. The facilities were exceptionally good', lovely garden house with character, fantastic ambiance. I would highly recommend a stay here to add to your experience. Thank you😊

Clean, spacious, comfy and with a pool table in the room! What more can you ask for. Owners went out of their way to be friendly. Would definitely stay again next time we're in the area.
